MANILA, Philippines — Who says working in a call center is a dead-end job? Teletech is looking to counter this common perception by offering to send its agents to MBA programs for free.
The US-based call center has formed partnerships with top universities Ateneo de Manila and De La Salle University for an MBA scholarship program.
Isabel Bales, Teletech’s director for human capital, said this program will be rolled out at the start of school year in June.
The scholarships will apply at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business in Makati City and De La Salle University in Bacolod City in the province of Negros Occidental, where Teletech runs a facility.
The program will cover as much as P200,000 worth of expenses per student and allows agents to work and study at the same time, Bales said.
“It will reinforce our team leaders’ ability to pursue project management strategies and sharpen their planning skills,” she said.
Teletech operates eight facilities in the Philippines with a total of more than 11,000 employees.
