Convergys to Open 9th Call Center in Bacolod City
Convergys Corp. will open a facility in Bacolod City looking to add at least 500 more people to its workforce in the Philippines.
The Bacolod facility in Negros Occidental province is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2008.
Initial investment in the site amounted to about $3 million, according to Clint Streit, head of customer care at Convergys.
“We’re looking at around $6 million investment in the long term as we ramp up operations (in Bacolod),” Streit said in a media interview Tuesday.
Prior to Bacolod, Convergys operated eight facilities including two in Cebu City also in the Visayas region.
Marife Zamora, Convergys’ country manager, also expects the Bacolod site to attract workers from other cities in the Western Visayas region.
“Bacolod ranks high in terms of availability of talent,” Zamora said.
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Convergys now employs more than 11,000 workers in the Philippines since it started operations in 2003
