Convergys to Train Gawad Kalinga as Call Center Agents

Convergys Corp. wants to train residents of Gawad Kalinga communities as potential call center agents.The US-based outsourcing firm recently made a $20,000 donation to the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Foundation, a non-profit volunteer group that provides housing to squatter areas.

Marife Zamora said the company is in talks with the foundation about a program that would set up schools in GK communities. The initiative has so far built more than 900 GK housing communities nationwide.

“We are thinking of a volunteer program wherein employees can devote some time to English proficiency training, especially residents who are at least high school level,” Zamora said via phone interview.
