ePLDT Targeting IT Outsourcing Market

ePLDT, the IT arm of telecom giant PLDT, has created a new business unit targeting the IT outsourcing market.Called iPlus, this new subsidiary adds on to ePLDT’s existing subsidiaries — Ventus and SPi — doing voice and non-voice outsourcing services, respectively.

iPlus will focus on the “high-tech” outsourcing market, said Erville Magtubo, the company’s sales and marketing director.

“We embarked on the business due to feedback from our clients about the lack of IT expertise from their end,” Magtubo said during the launch of Call Center in a Box, a solution targeting start-up call center market.

Magtubo said iPlus’ goal is to go into “full-scale” managed services, capable of delivering software-as-a-service targeting both local and regional customers.

“We are looking at going into managed network operations center, for example, because this allows economies of scale in order to target smaller users,” he added.

Call Center in a Box, meanwhile, integrates an IBM server, Oracle database and contact center software from Genesys Communications, which is owned by networking firm Alcatel Lucent.

Pricing for the bundled product is at P1.2 million, including software licenses for a five-seater inbound call center.

Another bundle, priced at P1.4 million, adds predictive and progressing dialing software suited for outbound contact centers.
