Texas Instruments hires 25% of Baguio’s Fresh Graduates

When job-seekers queue up for a job, that’s not usually a good thing.

The summer capital generates 22,000 fresh graduates each year, and opportunities are comparatively scarce, even in a city that hosts top exporters like Texas Instruments Philippines Inc., said acting Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr.

But on Monday, Bautista considered the lines of job hopefuls “a welcome development” because, he said, it led straight to one of the first job fairs here.

The two-day Career Expo 2007, which opened on Monday at the Porta Vaga mall near the Baguio Cathedral here, was sponsored by the Inquirer’s Job Market and Inquirer Compact (affiliates of INQUIRER.net under the Inquirer Group).
